KUALA LUMPUR: State oil firm Petronas reported a fire at the Bekok C platform, operated by its unit Petronas Carigali, located 200km off Peninsula Malaysia’s eastern shore.
Six out of the 108 personnel on board the platform were injured and taken to hospital in the capital of Terengganu state, Petronas said in a statement on Tuesday.
The remaining personnel were evacuated to nearby platforms.
The fire started just after midnight early this morning during the platform’s scheduled shutdown for maintenance activities.
The oil company said the investigation was underway in the statement. — Reuters
