Three-day New Year celebrations at i-City

A THREE-DAY carnival will be held at i-City as part of the Selangor Government’s programme to usher in 2011.
State local government chairman Ronnie Liu said the programme would start on Dec 29 and end after the countdown on the eve of the New Year.
He said this year’s programme would be interesting and the i-City would be also equipped with the indoor snowland which would be open to the public on Dec 29.
Liu said the highlight of the programme would be on Dec 31 when more than 50,000 people were expected to turn up.
Besides presentations from popular local artistes, Liu said this year’s celebration also incorporated performances from the various local authorities.
“We also have schools performing on the eve in a move to encourage young people especially schoolchildren to participate in stage activities.
“Furthermore, the participating schools have a proven track record for their performances,’’ he said
Liu added that various exhibitions would also be held at i-City during the three days.
He said there would be an exhibition by the state government to inform the public on the various developments in Selangor.
“The exhibition will give the public an idea of what the Pakatan Rakyat government has done over the past three years,’’ he said.
Besides that, Liu said all 12 local authorities in the state would be also holding exhibitions on their activities.
He said a one-day training programme would also be organised for all the 288 local councillors from the various councils.
“Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim will also give a talk on the performance of the state and on what is in store for 2011,’’ he said.
