GEORGE TOWN: It was not just another day at work for a security guard here who found a dead, almost naked woman in a drain.
Shortly after, a python made its appearance just next to the body.
The unidentified woman, wearing just a bra, panties and a pair of sandals, was found lifeless in the drain outside a construction site on Kelawai Road here.
Security guard K. Thinagaran stumbled upon the body when he reported for his shift at 3.10pm yesterday.
He said he saw a “white object” in the drain next to the guard house of the construction site.
“I alerted my colleague T. Krishnan to check it out.
“We were surprised to see a body lying face down.
“Initially, we thought it was a man since the hair of the victim was short but we soon realised it was a woman’s body as she had on her bra and panties,” he said at the scene.
Krishnan said one side of the bra was torn off while a piece of grey cloth was found clinging on to her body.
“We quickly reported to the police and the firemen arrived later to pull out the body,” he said.
But just as the firemen were trying to bring up the body, Thinagaran said a python, about one metre in length, suddenly appeared.
Its head was seen just next to the woman’s body.
“The snake was shooed away. We believe it could have been washed to the spot by the strong flow of water in the drain due to heavy rain,” he said.
George Town OCPD Asst Comm Gan Kong Meng said the victim was believed to be in her 40s, adding that no identification document was found on her.
“There were bruises and marks on her body but we still do not know what caused them as her body might have been dragged through the drain,” he said. - theStarOnline
