MARANG: A man almost destroyed his son’s house — just because he wants the land the house stands on.
The 67-year-old man had tried to force his son to move out from the house in Kampung Batu 13 here as he wanted the plot of land.
He went to the house at 8.30am on Sunday with his son’s three stepbrothers, along with two excavators.
It was learnt that the son, Yusuf Mat Yasin, 52, was at home with his wife Faridah Abdullah, 50, and his daughter Norliana, 17.
The suspect destroyed the garage and kitchen. He and his stepsons then used the excavators to dig a ditch around the house.
Yusuf and his family endured the ordeal for five hours, but he refused to submit to his father’s demands.
The father later gave up and Yusuf lodged a report at the Marang police station.
Yusuf said he and his family had been living there for more than 30 years and his father had suddenly asked them to leave late last year.
“I offered to buy the land from him, but he refused. We were involved in countless arguments the past couple of months, but I never imagined that it would lead to this,” he added.
Terengganu CID chief Asst Comm K. Manoharan said the victim’s father and three stepsiblings aged between 30 and 45 had been detained.
“They have been remanded until tomorrow to facilitate investigations,” he added. - theStarOnline
