PORT DICKSON: A good samaritan collapsed and died after performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on a pupil at the popular Teluk Kemang beach near here.
Zulkifly Hamzah, 43, from Taman Politeknik was having a drink with his mother Nyapon Jantan, 63, at her stall at the beach when he saw three students of SK Teluk Kemang struggling in the water.
Nyapon said several other picnickers jumped in and pulled the pupils to safety, but two fell unconscious.
“When they were brought to shore, Zulkifly quickly performed CPR on one of the boys.
“The moment the boy regained consciousness, my son collapsed,” she said.
Her nephew Badiozaman Abu, 43, who also helped perform CPR on another pupil, rushed Zulkifly to the hospital.
“However, doctors at the emergency department told me that he had died before he was brought in,” he said, adding that both of them had just started work as security guards at a nearby company four days earlier.
The three pupils were also rushed to the Port Dickson Hospital.
One had to be admitted for further treatment.
Nyapon described her son as a good father who had always thought about the future of his three children Ilyasa Zulkifli, 14, Idham Syah, nine, and Izuwan Syah, eight. - theStarOnline
