A desperate search is underway for a severely abused 3-year-old Campbell girl who disappeared with her mother and her mother's ex-boyfriend, police said Wednesday.
Responding to a phone call Tuesday, Campbell police went to do a welfare check at 2:30 p.m. at an apartment at 1300 Pollard Road, only to find no one was home. The search for the girl -- whose first name is Dejah -- her mother Jane Marin and the mother's ex-boyfriend George Rodriquez began immediately.
Campbell Capt. Dave Carmichael said police have since obtained evidence the child was the victim of severe abuse. But he said he cannot release any details at this time for fear of jeopardizing the case.
George Rodriguez is described as 35 years old, 6-feet-1 inch tall and 230 pounds. Jane Marin is 31 years old, 5-feet-tall and 130 pounds.
The child and her mother are believed to be in San Jose, Carmichael said.
Anyone with information about Dejah or the suspects is asked to call the station immediately at (408) 866-2101.
