KUANTAN: Angered by his wife's refusal to join him for lunch, a 28-year-old man attacked her with a pestle at their home in Kampung Cenderawasih here on Saturday.
The 25-year-old victim suffered injuries to her thigh, chin and face and sought outpatient treatment at the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital following the 1.30pm incident.
State deputy Criminal Investigation Department chief Superintendent Mohd Haris Daud said the victim then lodged a report at the district police headquarters and her 28-year-old husband was later detained.
It is learnt the victim had been wanting to end her marriage lately. When her husband asked her to have lunch with him on Saturday, she refused and they got into a heated argument.
Several minutes later, the husband could not control his anger and went into the kitchen where he grabbed the pestle and repeatedly hit the victim.
In another incident, three Bangladeshi plantation workers, who were furious when their superior failed to pick them up from their workplace on Saturday, attacked him at his house in Rompin about 3pm.
They assaulted their supervisor, also a Bangladeshi, with bamboo rods, resulting in injuries to his left shoulder and leg. - NST
