PUTRAJAYA: Nooryana Najwa Najib, the daughter of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, was engaged to Daniyar Nazarbayev in a ceremony at Seri Perdana, here, last night.

The ceremony was conducted in the presence of family and friends of the couple and dignitaries from Malaysia and abroad. Among the guests were Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Nur Zahirah, Sultan of Pahang Sultan Ahmad Shah and Sultanah of Pahang Hajah Kalsom, Tengku Mahkota Pahang Tengku Abdullah and Raja Muda of Perak Raja Dr Nazrin Shah.
Also at the ceremony were Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and wife Puan Sri Noorainee Abdul Rahman, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and wife Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, cabinet members, deputy ministers and senior federal and state government officials.
Najib's mother, Tun Rahah Mohamad Noah, was also present. The foreign dignitaries included the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Gen Sheikh Mohammed Zayed Al Nahyan and wife Sheikha Salam Hamdan Al Nahyan, and chairman of the Medina Council of Saudi Arabia, Prince Saud Abdulaziz Al-Saud.
Nooryana Najwa, 22, met Nazarbayev, also 22, while studying the in the United States.She graduated from the School of Foreign Service, Georgetown University, while he completed his studies at Columbia University, New York. -- Bernama
