SHAH ALAM: A man who ran amok was shot dead while two others were injured at the Valencia flats in Section 25, here, on Tuesday night.

The dead man, a Sabahan, was shot by crime analyst Kamal Affendi Hashim who pulled out his gun after being slashed twice by the assailant.

Two shots from Kamal's gun struck an Indonesian housewife who was in her unit on the same floor.

The drama unfolded at 9.50pm when the Sabahan went to his unit on the third floor to collect his belongings as he was moving out.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Zahedi Ayob said the man got into a heated argument with his housemate.

"He then grabbed a parang and chased his housemate who escaped and made his way to the Sri Muda police station to lodge a report.

"Three policemen then accompanied the housemate back to the unit where the Sabahan, who was still armed with a parang, chased them," Zahedi said yesterday.

He said the four went down a flight of stairs and ran into Kamal and his friends. Kamal fell down and the armed man then started attacking him.

Kamal, 43, sustained slash wounds to the right kneecap and the middle finger of his right hand.

He then took out his gun and fired several shots. The armed man was killed instantly but several shots went through the wall and hit the 44-year-old Indonesian housewife on the right arm and thigh.

The woman was admitted to the Tuanku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang where her condition was reported to be stable while Kamal was sent to the Selangor Medical Centre.

According to police, Kamal was a licensed firearm holder. Police had seized the gun for further investigation. - NST
