Whitesnake comes to KL

AS far as rock ‘n’ roll stories go, legendary British rocker David Coverdale has amassed a few hefty volumes of unforgettable tales and times – on stage and in the studio.
He has played with Deep Purple, enjoyed a solo career, pumped up the hits with Whitesnake and done a blues rock album with Jimmy Page.
The 59-year-old singer, who has the blues in his veins, is set to take his long-standing group Whitesnake to South East Asia in October and Malaysia is on the tour diary. Yes, you heard right: Whitesnake plays Stadium Negara, Kuala Lumpur on Oct 30.

Presented by JS Concert Productions and Midas, the Whitesnake show in KL will see Coverdale rolling back the years and cranking up the rock favourites, notably the blues stormers from the late 1970s (Long Way From Home, Ain’t No Love In The Heart Of The City), the tasty early hits (Fool For Your Loving, Don’t Break My Heart Again) and the hard rock heavyweights from the 1980s (Is This Love, Here I Go Again, Still Of The Night).
If that isn’t enough hard rock excitement, the bonus is Coverdale indulging fans with the essentials cuts from his Deep Purple years (1973-76), a stint which included albums Burn, Stormbringer and Come Taste The Band.
All said, few bands defined the sound or the fashion of 1980s hard rock more than Whitesnake, the band pieced together by Coverdale in 1977 (after departing Deep Purple). There was the look: the epic, bleach-blond curls and tight black leather.
Coverdale, despite years, is still the business on stage. He is touring in support of Whitesnake’s eleventh studio album (Forevermore), a record that features Coverdale collaborating heavily with guitarist Doug Aldrich (of Lion, Hurricane, House Of Lords fame). The current Whitesnake line-up is completed by guitarist Reb Beach (of Winger fame), bassist Michael Devin, keyboardist Timothy Drury and drummer Brian Tichy.
Tickets priced at RM358, RM258, RM158 and RM98 are available now at Victoria Music, Guitar Store and Rock Corner outlets. Book them online at ticketpro.com.my and airasiaredtix.com. Hotline: 03-7880 7999 (Ticketpro) and 03-8775 4666 (AirAsiaRedTix). - theStarOnline
