|Lorry mishap turns fruitful|
NILAI: It was watermelon and honeydew galore on a 50m stretch along the North South Expressway near here when a lorry transporting the fruits overturned after a burst tyre.
The incident at KM281.4 of the south-bound lane at 10am caused a minor traffic jam as motorists stopped to pick the fruits.
The lorry, believed to be heading towards Johor Baru, was carrying a tonne of the fruits when it spilled its cargo.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the driver, who is in his 40s, had lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the guardrail before falling onto its side.
“The lorry was in the middle of the three-lane highway when one of its tyres burst.
“The driver was fortunate to have escaped with minor injuries,” a police spokesman said.
PLUS officials were later seen clearing the lanes of the remaining fruits.
Seremban OCPD Asst Comm Saiful Azly Kamaruddin said they were still investigating the cause of the accident, urging witnesses to come forward. - theStarOnline
