SEREMBAN: Foreign students staying at the Sri Palma Villa Apartments in Bandar Universiti Teknologi Legenda, Mantin, are upsetting local residents with their bad behaviour.
Residents said the students, who were studying at a private institution of higher learning nearby, were disturbing local women, fighting among themselves and getting drunk in public.
A 23-year-old resident, who wanted to be known only as Miza, said she feared for the safety of herself and her children.
At times, she said, the foreigners were violent and did seem to be concerned about other people.
She said they would monopolise the swimming pool and make a lot of noise.
She said the other residents were forced to stay inside their units like "prisoners"."
They often bring women to their apartments, including locals, and have wild parties into the early hours," said Miza.
Ummi, a 30-year-old resident, said there was a security guard but there wasn't much he could do to keep the foreigners in check.
"Many outsiders, taxis and also illegal taxis come in and out. The situation has worsened since the number of foreigners began increasing.
"We urge the apartment management to do something fast to ensure the safety of the other residents," she said.
Azman Badaruddin, chairman of the Sri Palma Villa Block 1, 2, 3 and 6 joint management body, said many complaints had been lodged about the foreigners and promised to take action soon.
He said they would immediately lodge police reports if crimes or untoward incidents were to occur. -- By Ramesh Pillai
