JOHOR BARU: Three young people have been nabbed for allegedly stepping on photographs of the Prime Minister during a Merdeka Day eve gathering.
A 19-year-old freelance model surrendered herself at the Johor Baru (South) police headquarters here Wednesday
Wearing a white collared T-shirt, the model from Taman Puteri Wangsa, accompanied by her friends, turned herself in at about 10am after her picture was published as part of the police wanted list in a Chinese daily Tuesday for stepping on pictures of Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak during the Perhimpunan Janji Demokrasi gathering at Dataran Merdeka.
The report was completed at around 1.05pm and she was escorted into a police vehicle out of the building.
Later, Wednesday, her friend, a 20 year-old handphone promoter, was arrested after he came to the police headquarters at about 6pm.
Johor CID deputy chief Asst Comm Mohd Akhir Ishak said that both of them would be taken to the Dang Wangi police headquarters in Kuala Lumpur to help in investigations.
“We are in the process of identifying their other friends who attended the same gathering to aid in investigations,” he said.
Meanwhile, a 19-year-old male turned himself in at the Dang Wangi station Wednesday afternoon after seeing his photograph in the newspaper in connection with events at the gathering. - theStarOnline
