It was billed as the biggest K-pop concert in Malaysia—nine South Korean pop groups, headlined by boy band Shinee, together on one stage for the WBS K-pop Stormshow. However, the concert scheduled for Tuesday 6th November in Sunway Lagoon, PJ has been cancelled at the last minute.
Its South Korean organiser Happy Entertainment called off the show after South Korean radio station WBS, which initiated the concert, pulled out of the event following a disagreement between the two parties.
"[The show] has to be postponed, as the problem cannot be solved on time. The concert can no longer go on as planned. Details will be announced after the internal meeting with all parties," Happy Entertainment said in a statement, adding that ticket holders would get a full refund.
"Happy Entertainment is really sorry to all the fans that bought tickets. Procedure, venue, date and time for the refund of purchased tickets will be disclosed on our official Facebook page at facebook.com/kpopstorm," the statement said.
Despite Happy Entertainment's insistence that the show has been moved to next year—without details—TicketCharge stated on its website that the show was indeed cancelled. "We will advise all the ticket purchaser on the refund detail once we have finalise with the organiser," the company posted on its homepage.
Meanwhile, on the WBS website, the drama is far more intense. The radio station declared that they had terminated the deal with Happy Entertainment as of 1st November due to a "breach of contract".
"Happy Entertainment Inc should put right and correct all promotional materials associated with WBS Broadcasting and apologise for this," the statement read.
Naturally, the cancellation has sparked uproar among the fans as hundreds continue to flood the official Facebook page with angry comments and disappointment over the late announcement.
"Thanks for ruining my day, I appreciate your effort on these days but I just lost my trust on you guys," posted Iwin Yeong. Another fan, Jessica Djb, asked: "can u just credited back my money thru the credit card? i am not from kl u know... i hope u dont expect me to come to kl to get the refund..."
NurSyazana Razali wrote, "Make sure it is postpone, NOT cancel! And please bring them come to Malaysia next time! No more like this stupid thingy! We don't want others to look down on Malaysia! TQ." Meanwhile, Azizul Amiruddin commented, "so you mau kami buat apa esok?"
One rant from Nina Zaini Cheong went: "Hrmm, a big sigh I gave to you. You know what? When I heard that I already get the ticket for the concert, I cried because of happiness and now, you postpone it, it will really makes me cries because of sadness. You guys have mind or not?? Let me suggest, Why dont you cancel on the day of the concert?? WHY LAST MINUTE???"
WBS K-pop Storm was meant to feature Shinee, No Brain, U-Kiss, Teen Top, Block B, Girls Day, DalShabet, D-Unit and The Gwangdae. There's no word on whether any of the groups have already arrived in KL for the concert.
